from Leadership Medica n. 273/2009
The first issue of Leadership Medica displayed Christian Barnard on the cover.
Due to his strong personality, his applied researches in the scientific field, the success obtained in doing the first heart transplant, he was the character that best represented and reflected the publishing line of the new magazine.
During the first unscheduled meeting, instead of talking about transplants, he proposed me an article on molecular medicine, since he was convinced that it represented the future of medicine on which he started the new researches.
A futuristic article dealing with the presence of cells inside the body that were able and are still able to reconstruct or repair the damages inside the various organs which he defined "immortal cells", alias staminal cells. Indeed the article suggested us the editorial line suitable for the scientific information, which we followed throughout all this time, by dedicating space to particular researches: nanotechnology, neurosciences, quantum theory, etc...
For this reason, we deem appropriate after many years, at the end of the 25th publishing year of Leadership Medica, to indicate besides his article, part of the results attained in following up what he had discovered as pioneer, long time ago.
